I'd been designing websites for years, but being part of the team at NHS Digital was where I really learnt the ropes. Working under the Government Digital Services (GDS) framework meant designing and building products using an agile methodology, as part of a scrum team, with user needs and accessibility always front and centre.
For each project, I worked alongside a UX designer, content designer, developers and project managers. I learnt to balance the needs of a wide range of stakeholders, including government ministers, top brand agencies like Ogilvy and Saatchi & Saatchi, and external partners like Disney — whilst always advocating for the user at the heart of the journey.
I joined as a mid-weight and quickly rose to senior, leading the transformation of some of Public Health England’s largest health campaign websites, including Change4Life and Start4Life.
