The CEO of APIMS, Simon Hall, had an ambition to turn the data privacy and cybersecurity processes of large corporations into an automated SaaS platform for smaller organisations. By the summer of 2024, he'd spent a significant amount of time and money developing a product that was not stable enough to launch, and asked me to help ship an MVP.
For just over a year, I worked roughly 4 days a month as a Head of Product, overseeing a transition from onshore to offshore development teams and then prioritising a backlog of features to get the APIMS platform into a place where we could support paying customers — something we achieved by July 2025.
Although I did minimal design work on the product, I needed to develop an intimate knowledge of the user journeys. To help with this I created some user personas and mapped out their experiences.
I also freshened up the brand, redrawing the logo and adding some visual elements, and built a website in Webflow to market the platform.
